Angioma

Angiomas are benign superficial blood vessels. These tumors can be located anywhere on the body. Some of the different types include spider angiomas, cherry angiomas, and angiokeratomas. The cause of most types of angiomas is not known. Cherry angiomas and are due to aging and do not have any known significance. Spider angiomas are more common in childhood and during pregnancy, and a few can appear on anyone. When present in large numbers, liver damage is always a consideration for the cause. Angiokeratomas are a benign overgrowth of blood vessels and skin cells.
 

Treatment

Angiomas do not need to be treated unless they bleed or are bothering one. Dr. Green and Dr. Chaplik treat angiomas predominantly with either cautery, laser, or surgical removal. All three types of treatment have minimal associated discomfort and usually provide a great cosmetic result. Depending on the individual case, Dr. Green and Dr. Chaplik will recommend the most appropriate method if you desired treatment. Rarely, angiomas recur after treatment.
